Companion Talk

Kids talk, Buddy listens, thinks, and replies out loud — no streaks, no pressure. Like a phone call with a very patient friend.

See it in action

Cortex Spark glows through listening, thinking, and speaking — so kids always know whose turn it is.

How the conversation works

  1. 1. Start talking

Your child chooses when to start talking, or types a question instead.

  2. 2. Buddy listens

Buddy listens during the child’s turn. The microphone stays off while Buddy speaks.

  3. 3. Buddy thinks

A lightbulb pose shows Buddy is putting together a reply, so quiet moments never feel like the app froze.

  4. 4. Buddy replies out loud

Buddy answers in the child's chosen voice. Your child can start another turn when Buddy finishes.

Parent guide

What your child experiences

A back-and-forth conversation with their saved companion, using spoken or typed questions and spoken replies. Your child stays in control of each turn.

How to start and end a session

From the child dashboard, open Talk. Choose Start talking or type a question. Use Stop while Buddy speaks, or Back to leave the screen.

Safety and privacy

Conversations are only used to reply in the moment and to show you the chat history in your PIN-protected parent portal. Voice is processed per-turn; nothing is recorded when the session is off. Buddy is a supportive companion, not a replacement for professional care.

Microphone and device tips

The first session will ask for microphone permission — allow it once and it sticks. Companion Talk works best in a reasonably quiet room with the device propped up nearby, and respects Calm Mode for kids who prefer still visuals.

Your child can stop Buddy’s reply or leave Talk at any time. Leaving closes the microphone and stops speech.
